Carolyn Marie Greer

	Carolyn Marie Greer, age 87, of Swanwick, IL passed away in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at 9:07 a.m. 
	Carolyn was born in DuQuoin, IL on April 1, 1917 the daughter of Charles E. and Otillie S. (Keiner) Bahre. She married Russel J. Greer on September 18, 1935 in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1951. After the loss of her husband in a mining accident, Carolyn worked on the family farm to support her family. Later in life, she also worked as a certified dietician at various hospitals and nursing homes. Carolyn was also an avid quilter, making numerous quilts for people throughout the United States. She enjoyed quilting with various groups including those at the Perry County Jail Museum, the Swanwick Cemetery Association and for her church, St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville. At her church, she served on the Consistory, the Women's Guild,. and taught Sunday School. She was a 4-H leader, an honorary member of the FFA, and was one of the Presidents of the former Swanwick School Board. She also served as the President of the Swanwick Party Line Phone Company and was active with the Swanwick Cemetery Association.
	Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Parsell and husband Ron of Coulterville, IL, 3 sons, Dale Greer and wife Roberta of Pinckneyville, IL, Marian Greer and wife Barbara, of Coulterville, IL and Charles Greer and wife Mary of Pinckneyville, IL. A son-in-law, Bill Kocian, of Swanwick, IL, 26 grandchildren & 39 great-grandchildren
	She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Janet Kocian, a brother, Charles Bahre, a sister, Ruth Ibendahl, a grandson, Ronald Parsell, and a granddaughter-in-law, LaVonda Parsell (wife of Lyman Parsell).
	Funeral services were held at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Howard Self officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park in DuQuoin, IL. 
	Visitation was held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, June 28, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m.
	Memorials may be made to the Perry County Jail Museum or Swanwick Cemetery Association.
